iTunes Crashes in Windows 10

Users of Apple iTunes are reporting that the software is crashing when used in Microsoft Windows 10. What happens is that iTunes will open initially, freeze, then shut down.

Fix 1 – Run iTunes as Admin

  1. Right-click the iTunes icon.
  2. Select “Run as Administrator“.

Fix 2 – Reinstall

  1. Make sure Apple iTunes is closed.
  2. Right-click the “Start” button and open “File Explorer“.
  3. Navigate to the following location:
    • C: Drive
    • Program Files (x86)
    • Common Files
  4. Rename the “Apple” folder to “Apple.old“.
  5. Navigate to the following location:
    • C: Drive
    • Program Files (x86)
  6. Rename the “Apple” folder to “Apple.old“
  7. Navigate to the following location:
    • C: Drive
    • Program Files
  8. Rename the “Apple” folder to “Apple.old“.
  9. Download and install a fresh copy of iTunes.

Now try to open iTunes. Hopefully the relocation of this file has fixed your issue.

FAQ

Why is my music gone from iTunes after these steps?

Your music should still be safe somewhere on your hard drive. It’s usually under “This PC” > “Music“. You should be able to find it somewhere, then drag it all over to the iTunes window if it isn’t found automatically.

    It crashed mine and now computer won’t even boot up goes into a loop and tries to restart again and again.
